Fort Riley spouse receives $6K scholarship

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Bryant & Stratton College Online announced June 9 that Kristine Colwell, an Army wife from Fort Riley, received a $6,000 Salute to Spouses Scholarship to pursue an online associate degree in medical administrative assistant at Bryant & Stratton College.

The Salute to Spouses Scholarship program offers military spouses an opportunity to advance their education and become more competitive in the modern job market. Salute to Spouses scholarships are for online degree programs at Bryant & Stratton College

“Bryant & Stratton College Online is pleased to announce that Kristine Colwell is a Salute to Spouses Scholarship recipient,” said Scott Traylor, associate campus director for Online Education, Bryant & Stratton College. “As a military spouse, Kristine gives so much in support of our troops, so we are honored to support her.”

Salute to Spouses will award eligible military spouses scholarships totaling up to $600 for part-time students or $1,200 for full-time students per semester for online degree programs offered by Bryant & Stratton College. The maximum scholarship award a recipient can receive is $6,000. The Salute to Spouses Scholarship can be combined with My Career Advancement Account benefits for recipients pursuing an online associate degree at Bryant & Stratton College.

The combination of the Salute to Spouses Scholarship and MyCAA benefits, however, cannot exceed the cost of tuition.

Bryant & Stratton College Online launched the Salute to Spouses Scholarship program in March 2010 after the Department of Defense suspended the MyCAA program. While MyCAA has since resumed, Bryant & Stratton College Online continues to offer Salute to Spouses scholarships to eligible military spouses.

To qualify, applicants must have a copy of their spouse’s orders, marriage certificate and a high school diploma or equivalent. Scholarship recipients must meet Bryant & Stratton College scholarship eligibility requirements, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must stay enrolled semester to semester.

More information, including the application form, is available at www.SaluteToSpouses.com.

Byrant & Stratton College is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Bryant & Stratton College offers four online bachelor’s degree programs and eleven online associate degree programs.
